When I was asked to photograph a wedding in Squim, Washington, I jumped at the chance. Not only is it a beautiful ferry ride and drive from Seattle, but it's the lush forest and bluffs that awaited me. Emily and Kawika were wonderful people to photograph.
The wedding dress Emily wore was tailored and made from scratch for her from Kawika's mother and grandmother.
The ceremony was small and intimate in the beautiful backyard of Kawika's family home. Friends and family gathered to see the union of these two lovebirds.
Lots of the decorations and reception pieces were handmade by the family as well; this included the signage for the wedding and the design for the place-mats were done by Kawika, a graphic design major.
The soft vintage theme held everything together.
Just like the rest of the wedding, the rings were specifically and locally designed by the couple. Kawika and Emily were married on a beautiful day in June and it's a day they will never forget, nor will I.
