There's an art to engagement sessions, and I'm here to help you every step of the way! Some couples hit the nail on the head with their engagement session. Jenn + Matt were one such couple. Not only were they just drop dead adorable, but they had things all planned out to a tee.
1. Mood board. This is something I like to put together to give the couple a chance to think about their engagement session and put their ideas together. I have them fill out a little questionnaire for me, so I can get an idea of their style, then I get to work on their custom made mood board! It'll include all the details from styling and props, to location and color palette for the clothing. Nervous about your engagement shoot? Don't worry girl. I gottchu.
2. Props. Nothing is more unique than spending a little time on a hand made prop to display in your engagement session. Sometimes it just spices up the shoot to have a little something to play with too. I've seen it all too. From bikes and hats, to balloons and cute little wooden cutouts like Jenn + Matt's session. Not only can it be a cute way to display your wedding date, but I often find that clients just naturally feel more comfortable if they have props. Even a simple blanket to wrap around themselves can make an excellent way to bring the couple together. Literally.
3. Make it you - these two LOVE Christmas. It's so important that the engagement pictures embody everything that you two as a couple are. If you like to read, and watch tv in bed, well you should consider a photoshoot in your home. If you're fancy and like to hit up shows, let's do a heel clad engagement session in the nighttime city lights. Jenn + Matt love Christmas. But who doesn't? No, wait. You have no idea. They LOVE it. Despite their destination wedding coming up in August, they wanted to celebrate their love of the holidays. And that's exactly what we did. They drove me up the pass outside of Seattle and we romped around in the snow!
Dear Jenn + Matt,
I loved your Christmas themed engagement session! Thank you for romping around in the snow with me!
